SCODY CUP TOUR OF THE MURRAY RIVER August 29 - September 5, 2010 Riding by the Murray River Third Race of the Scody Cup Series
ECHUCA START FOR THE MURRAY RIVER TOUR The 2010 Tour of the Murray River will start on Sunday, August 29 with the acclaimed 154.5km stage from Echuca to Rochester, starting at the Beechworth Bakery and passing through 10 towns in the Shire of Campaspe. The eight-day tour, first held in 1966, will finish on the equally popular Mildura riverfront kermesse circuit on Sunday, September 5. Riders will negotiate 908kms, taking in 125 intermediate sprints and 14 hill climbs on the 14-stage tour.
The tour is Australia's longest road cycling event. It will embrace two municipalities in NSW - Murray and Balranald, and four in Victoria, - Campaspe, Swan Hill, Yarriambiack and Mildura. Eight of the tour's 14 exciting stages will be raced on spectacular criterium circuits - at Echuca, Swan Hill, Lake Boga, Robinvale, Euston, Ouyen, Merbein and Mildura.
